US, Report Back from CopWatch LA Outreach at the SC Farm
Jun 11
Hey folks, Yesterday 6 members of COPWATCH LA and 6 campesinos/farmers went to do door-to-door outreach in South Central around the South Central Farm.
Before we went out we talked and invited the campesinos/farmers to go with us and jumped on board saying, "If you're all going to do talk to people about the farm, and you're not farmers, then why not the farmers go with you as well."
It was a great experience talking to the farmers while we outreached to people. Some told us they never had any experience talking to others about their struggle and their history at the farm. They mentioned how it would be great if they could get some trainning in actually talking to people. Also that by just going out there and doing the outreache they got over their fear of speaking in public.
Overall we got good responses from the community. Some people didn't know what the vigils were about and why we were out there re-taking the farm.
CopWatch and the Farmers we will be doing more outreach in the community everyday at 6pm. We meet on 41st and Long Beach before we go into the community. Anybody is welcome to be part of the outreach, which is one of the things which is key right now.
We talk to people about different things they can do to support and take up the struggle. Like being witness and participating in defense of the farm when the police and sheriffs come in. Call Jan Perry, and other of the liars in office. One thing we'll be doing in the coming days is inviting people to the vigils that happen at 7pm.
We'll also be passing out fliers with information on Cop Watch and with a contact number in case the community sees anything suspicious with the police or if they see cops meeting to get ready to attack the farm.
in struggle,
